Europa Film Treasures (And Serious Eye Candy)
Okay, THIS is how I'm going to spend my weekend. Be forewarned -- enough killer flicks, films and shorts to keep your eyes occupied well into 2010. This particular George Pal piece (done for Phillips in 1938) is particularly tasty. It's also the woodiest flick here.

J.D.Salinger: The Caricature In The Rye
I've been incredibly lax in terms of updating this blog -- just as bad as updating my main Drawger blog. Hey, 'Blog We Must' might be YOUR credo, but mine is 'Blog When You Can Find The Time'. Whatev. Anyway, have been re-reading 'Raise High The Roof Beam, Carpenters' and felt inclined to try a caricature of J.D. Salinger -- using, of course, little more than the scant 3 or 4 photos of him in existence for general reference. The blue tint seemed somehow fitting.

Steve Jobs on Paul Rand
As the story goes, Jobs hired Rand to create the logotype for his new computer company, NEXT. Jobs asked for a few options on a logo design, but Rand refused. He promised, however, to solve NEXT's logo "problem" with a single image, but that Jobs would have to pay $100,000 for that image. Rand said Jobs would then have the option to use his solution (or not), but that he would be paid 100k for it.

Weegee Found Stuffed Inside Old Suitcase (Well, Kinda)
The moment I spied one of his mesmerizing crime scene images, Weegee instantly became my favorite photographer -- until I stumbled on Diane Arbus.
But stumbling upon a suitcase filled with Weegee photos? Well, just doesn't get any cooler than that.
